Laser Safety Officer Training – 2 day

The Laser Safety Officer Training Course is an in depth 2-day course designed for individuals with responsibilities as a Laser Safety Officer.

This unique course provides a Canadian context to meet provincial and federal requirements while examining the various ANSI standards and the updated ANSI Z136.1 (2014) Safe Use of Lasers. The course will provide a solid background for an administrative laser safety program and will provide an overview of the different mathematical calculations that may be required in laser safety.

Course tools allow participants to develop and maintain excellence in laser safety program at their own facilities.

Who should participate?

This course is ideal for Laser Safety Officers working with Class 3B or Class 4 lasers in manufacturing, commercial environments, hospital or university environments or anyone requiring additional knowledge of  the responsibilities a LSO. A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully complete the course.

Class discussions, and exercises supplement training materials. No pre requisites required for course participation.

Course Instructor

Liz Krivonosov, PEng, CIH, ROH is the course instructors. Liz has previously been a Laser Safety Officer and has developed laser safety programs, performed audits and has trained many participants in laser safety across Canada, including hospitals, universities and commercial clients. She has been an invited speaker to the 2015 International Laser Safety Conference (ILSC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, designated trainer to the 2015 Canadian Radiation Protection Association 2015 Laser Safety Workshop in Winnipeg, MB.  Liz was also an invited keynote session speaker on laser safety at the 2016 AST conference and will also be presenting at the 2017 ILSC conference in Atlanta, GA.
